Hard and smooth sharpening edge and sharp finish like natural whetstone.
This Suehiro original magnesia whetstone was developed over 15 to 20 years and made using a unique manufacturing method. Production ended with the first lot and will not be produced again.


This product is manufactured by cold curing with WA abrasive using magnesium oxide as a binder, then aged for 15 to 20 years in storage. Hard and crisp whetstone surface ensures a smooth whetting touch.
For instant results with extra sharpness, please use the mud from Nagura whetstone (optional, for finishing).
This product is wear-resistant and lasts longer than normal whetstones while maintaining a smooth whetting touch.
The quality of this product is assured by rigorous testing at high temperature (100℃) and dry conditions for synthetic products.
Color unevenness and patterns might occur as a result of storage at room temperature. This does not affect performance.

  • Nagura (WA#500) is for surface restoration. Please clean the whetstone surface and wipe off moisture after use.
  • This product is not currently manufactured as our material production line has stopped. We are offering our remaining stock of MG Ageing Method Whetstones as limited-edition products.
  • Due to the characteristics of the manufacturing method, uneven coloration may occur and patterns may vary, so customers who are looking for a uniform shape please refrain from purchasing this product.
