How to Use Whetstones

There are three types of whetstones we would like to recommend you to have as basics; coarse whetstones, medium whetstones, and finishing whetstones. Coarse whetstones best fits to grind off a nicked edge of iron blades. Medium whetstones is suitable for normal sharpening and can be used for a variety of knives from stainless-steel knives to iron blades. Finally, finishing whetstones is to keep a sharp edge for long and take it to the professional quality. These three types are must-haves and recommended to own at least one of each.

How to Sharpen Knives(Video)

Whetstone for Carving Knives(Video)

Please use the most suitable dents or back side of the whetstone along the shape and size of your carving knife. For sharpening the U-shaped gouge, it doesn’t have to fit perfectly with the dent. Instead, use the larger dent and sharpen it gradually by turing the gouge. Please be creative and try to use any dents or surface to get the best result.

Rounded Blade Whetstone(Video)

A versatile whetstone for rounded blades like carving knives and chisels. Both the inside and outside of the blade can be sharpened with this product. Please try to find the best angle for your blade on the curve of the whetstone.
